THE RUSSIAN MOSAIC FESTIVAL
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -
The Mid-Atlantic - Russia Business
Council in cooperation with the
Philadelphia Russian-Americans Chamber of Commerce, and the Tri-State Russian
Media Group is proud to announce the First Russian Mosaic Community
Festival to be held in the
Greater Philadelphia region. This free event, organized by the Creative Collective Arts Center, will take place on Sunday, August 10, 2003 from
12:00pm to 6:00pm at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing, Philadelphia. The
Festival will be a celebration of the cultures and communities of the Tri-State
Area with heritage from the countries of the Former Soviet Union. This event
is part of the Multicultural Series sponsored by PECO Energy and presented at
Penn's Landing by Independence Blue Cross.

"Russian Mosaic" will celebrate the rich and diverse customs and
contributions of the over one million Russian-speakers who live and work in the
Mid-Atlantic states and comprise one of the largest ethnic groups in the
Philadelphia region. The festival will feature music, dance, entertainment,
cuisine, arts and crafts, including:
. Musical Performances by some of the most
talented Russian-speaking artists, such as the orchestra of the restaurant
"Pale Royal", which will perform popular contemporary Russian songs, and the
pop vocalists Reno Nasirov and Igor Puskelnik. Other musical artists featured
at the Festival will include Vladimir Lapin, performing Russian romances, Mark
Sobol's band performing Russian, Jewish and Kleizmer music in jazz
interpretation, and Duo "Shalom" - Yakov Lulko and Sana Shermatova - singing in
all languages of the former USSR. DJ Govorun will spin your heads with Kazatshok,
Hava Nagila and Tsyganochka.

Children Groups and soloists from the "Rising Stars" Arts Center and academy
of Creative Learning "Pochemuchka".
. Russian,
Jewish, Georgian and Moldavian Cuisine will be available from vendors,
including the Philadelphia restaurants "Paradise" (Russian & Georgian),
"Golden Gates" (Russian & Georgian), and "Liliya's Continental Cuisine"
(Moldavian).
. Artisans presenting Traditional
Russian Crafts
including woodcarvings and paintings.

Mosaic" will celebrate the cultural contributions of our community to the
Mid-Atlantic region, including music, live performances, cuisine, and the arts.
The "RUSSIAN MOSAIC" Festival will be held on Sunday, August

Talented Artisans Yuri Lev,
Dmitry Peysakhov, Gennady Popov, Gennady Kaplan and Adolf Yevdoksyk will
present Traditional and Contemporary arts and crafts including photography, paintings, metal works
and woodcarvings.
The
"Russian Mosaic" Festival is produced by the Creative Collective Arts Center
with the support of the Philadelphia Russian-Americans Chamber of Commerce, the
Tri-State Russian Media Group, and the Mid-Atlantic - Russia Business Council.
This event is sponsored by Western Union and is part of the PECO Energy
Multicultural Series presented at Penn's Landing by Independence Blue Cross.
Directions to the Great Plaza
at Penn's Landing:
By Car
From I-95 use exit 20 (Columbus Blvd./ Washington Ave). Turn left onto Columbus
Blvd. The Great Plaza is
approximately 3 lights past the exit.
Use either the entrances at Walnut Street or Market Street to enter the site.
By Rail
From the 15th Street Station, take the Market-Frankford Elevated Line (the
Blue Line) to the Second Street
stop. From there, head East over the
Market Street Bridge. The Great Plaza will be on your right. For more information on mass transit, call SEPTA at
