Philadelphia, PA – The Mid-Atlantic
– Russia Business Council (MARBC) is pleased to invite
businesspeople interested in international trade to attend
World Trade Week 2006 from May 22-26, 2006 in New York City.
MARBC is proud to be a supporter of this important event,
which brings together specialists in international trade
from across the country. World Trade Week will begin with
the New York International Trade Awards Breakfast from 8-10:30
am on May 22, 2006. The breakfast will take place in Room
14-220 on the 14th floor of the Newman Vertical Campus of
Baruch College located at 55 Lexington Avenue (24th and
25th Streets) in New York City, New York.
The breakfast will feature Congressman Edolphus
Towns and will honor five individuals and organizations
for their work in the field of international trade. This
year’s awardees are: Ambassador Thomas M.T. Niles,
Vice Chairman of United States Council for International
Business, winner of the Global Trade Award, Lee Spring,
winner of the Export Achievement Award, Sjal Skin Care,
winner of the Small Business Global Trade Award, NEXCO,
winner of the International Trade Education Award and Stuart
Suna of Silvercup Studios, winner of the NYC International
Achievement Award. In addition, the breakfast will provide
an opportunity to network with members of international
trade organizations and potential international business
partners.
On the evening of May 22, the American Business
Forum on Europe will be held, which will discuss the June
2006 European Union-United States Summit and its implications
for transatlantic investments. Later in the Week, there
will be several seminars relating to the import/export business.
Included are both sessions for those new to the field of
import/export and more technical sessions covering finance,
logistics, compliance, and the Central American Free Trade
Agreement (CAFTA) and the Chile Free Trade Agreement. Other
seminars during the Week will cover business with specific
regions of the world including a seminar entitled “Expanding
Markets in Eastern Asia: China, Japan and Korea” and
seminars discussing business with Turkey and India.
