Business Council Hosts American Section
At the 9th
International Forum “High Technology of the 21st
Century” in Moscow
The Mid-Atlantic – Russia
Business Council (MARBC) invites you to participate in the
symposium “Opportunities for Russian-American Cooperation in
the Field of Science and Technology,” on April 23, 2008 in
the Expocenter, Moscow. This event is organized within the
framework of the 9th International Forum on “High
Technology of the 21st Century” on April 22 - 25,
2008. The MARBC will once again be coordinating participation
of the American business community in the Forum. The Forum will
be held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Energy
of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense, Federal
agencies and services, the Russian Academy of Science,
Government of Moscow, the Moscow Entrepreneurs Association, the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, and
in association with the Office of the Mayor of Moscow. The
Forum will host national and foreign businesses, as well as
organizations specializing in the field of high technology
production, including state science centers, academic
institutions, financial companies, investment and venture
enterprises.
The “High Technology of the 21st
Century” International Exhibition presents technological
achievements in the fields of space, radio electronics and
communications, information, atomic science, mechanical
engineering and metal-working, laser technologies, medicine and
biotechnology, ecology, chemistry and new materials, alternative
energy and energy-efficient technologies, and safety and
security technology. The exhibition will also cover achievements
in areas such as healthcare, education, affordable accommodation
and agro industrial complexes. Round tables and seminars will be
organized on the latest trends in science-intensive industries.
There will be presentations on newly developed products as well
as on the latest regional and inter-regional developments.
Official representatives from various regions of Russia will
actively participate in the conference.
The Business portion of the
Forum includes a series of seminars and round tables regarding
the problems of innovative activities and financing scientific
projects. Discussions will be held in the following topics:
attraction of investments into high technology, mechanisms for
cooperation between the science industry and the private sector,
intellectual property, improvement in training systems for
industry scientists, problems and solutions arising from large
scale integration, and international cooperation in the field of
high technology.
As part of the American program, the Mid-Atlantic – Russia
Business Council, in collaboration with the Moscow Entrepreneurs
Association, will host a seminar “Opportunities for
Russian-American Cooperation in the Field of Science and
Technology.” U.S. companies will give presentations
on the topic of Russian-American
technological cooperation.
The Council will also
organize an American exhibition. The Moscow Entrepreneurs
Association, in partnership with MARBC, will organize a
presentation session of laureates of innovative projects’
competition, a round table on the “Major Problems Associated
with Implementation of Innovative Technology,” and a
workshop on the “Development of Innovative Activity in the
Field of Defense and Security: Finance Attraction, Products and
Services Promotion.”
The Committee for Innovation
Technology and Venture Financing of the Moscow Entrepreneurs
Association in partnership with MARBC will co-host the
innovation competition “Leader in the Field of High
Technology,” as well as the award ceremony for the laureates
of the Forum, which will be held at the President Hotel on April
25, 2008. Projects for the competition have been submitted
throughout the year and judged in seven categories: information
technology and electronics; transport, fuel, and energy; ecology
and natural resources; new materials; production technology; and
consumer goods.
