Wharton Global Business Forum Conference Panel to Examine Current Prospects in the Russian Marketplace
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA The Pennsylvania-Russia Business Council is pleased to provide assistance and support to the The Wharton School's first annual Global Business Forum, to be held on November 16-18, 2000 in Philadelphia. The Global Business Forum encompasses several regionally oriented forums each focusing on one of six world regions. Russian - related issues will be addressed during the Forum's Wharton European Conference segment. These panels will be held Friday, November 17, 2000, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at The Double Tree Hotel, Center City, Philadelphia. The Honorable Condoleeza Rice, Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to Presidential Hopeful George W. Bush and Former Senior Director of Soviet and Eastern European Affairs under the Bush and Reagan Administrations, will provide the Global Business Forum's Opening Keynote Address on Thursday, November 16th. The Honorable Congressman Curt Weldon, Co-Chairman of the U.S. Congress - Russian Duma Working Group, will present Friday's Opening keynote address for the European Conference Forum. Additional participating guests addressing Russian - related topics include: senior-level representatives from Merrill Lynch, Salomon Smith Barney, and Boston Consulting Group. John Gallagher, Esquire and an active member of the Pennsylvania-Russia Business Council will be moderating a special breakout session on the former Soviet Union. As prospects of growth return to the Russian and Eastern European marketplace, major Western investors and service-providers are once again turning toward these emerging marketplaces. Fridays panel will discuss the current state of the Russian and Eastern European equity markets, investment climates and political/economic environments, as well as the major business sectors that will ultimately determine the future of this important region. The critical success factors in this area revolve around both politics and economics. During this time, senior representatives from leading companies such as Salomon Smith Barney, Boston Consulting Group, Troika Dialog and Sovlink, as well as members of the Mid-Atlantic business community active in the Russian and countries of the Former Soviet Union marketplace, will lend their views to this important and timely topic.
