RUSSIAN UNITY PARTY DELEGATION IN PHILADELPHIA
The Honorary Boris Vyacheslavovich Gryzlov, Chairman of the Unity Party in the Russian Duma, will head the delegation. Mr. Gryzlov, 50, graduated from the Leningrad Electro-technical Institute of Communications, specializing in radio engineering. Following college, he went to work at the Research Center for Powerful Radio Communications, focusing on cosmic and air space communications. In 1977, he joined Electronic Device, a Leningrad production company, where he worked for over 20 years. Between 1996 and 1999, Mr. Gryzlov was involved in higher education. He helped create the Institute for Executive Leadership Training Programs and the Central Institute for Employees of Municipal Service. He was also head of the Training and Methodological Center for New Educational Techniques, set up under the auspices of Baltic State Technical University. In 1999, Mr. Gryzlov became head of the Regional Development Foundation for Business Cooperation at the interregional level. Mr. Gryzlov first became involved in politics during the mid 1980s as an elected trade union leader. In October 1999, he became head of the St. Petersburg section of the interregional Unity Movement, and campaigned for seats in the State Duma. The Unity Party won with Mr. Gryzlov topping the list of Unity Party candidates. Mr. Gryzlov was subsequently elected the head of the party. Other members of the delegation include Ruslan Skorinin - Deputy Head of the Unity Party in Saint Petersburg, Alexander Lapshin - political advisor to Mr. Gryzlov, Vladislav Reznik - Parliamentarian and Unity Party Member, Mikhail Margelov - Director of the Russian Information Center, and Alexander Kozlovsky - Vice President of the National Olympic Committee.
