RUSSIAN DUMA DELEGATION IN PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - On Friday July 28, 2000 at 4:00 p.m., United States Congressman Curt Weldon, Co-Chairman of the U.S. Congress-Russian Duma Working Group and the Pennsylvania-Russia Business Council will host a delegation of deputies from the Russian Duma. All delegates represent the Russian Duma Committee of International Affairs. Additionally, these delegates represent different political parties including People's Party, Union of Right Forces Party and Communist Party. The entire Philadelphia professional community is invited to meet with these Russian leaders.

This program is sponsored by the law firm of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, and will take place in their main conference room located on the 38th floor of 1735 Market Street in Philadelphia. The program is expected to finish at 7:30 p.m. and a private dinner will follow at the Pyramid Club in the same building on the 51st floor. Space is limited and registration is required. The Honorary Sergei Nikolayevich Shishkarev, Deputy Chair of the Russian Duma Committee on International Affairs will head the delegation. Mr. Shishkarev, 32, represents the 41st electoral district (Novorossiysk) in Krasnodar Krai, and is a member of the Peoplešs Deputy Group within the Duma. Mr. Shishkarev studied at the Minsk Institute of Foreign Languages and is a graduate of the Moscow Military Institute of International Relations, as a military translator. In 1993, he joined the Dyelo Company, which became the principal transportation agent for the port of Novorossiysk. He later became Director for Dyelošs group of transportation and logistics companies, with affiliates in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar, Moscow and Rostov.

The Honorary Oleg Georgiyevich Naumov, Russian Duma Committee on International Affairs Member will be part of the delegation. Mr. Naumov, 47, was elected to the Duma on the Union of Right Forces party list. He holds an advanced degree in Sociology and has served as the Director of the Center for Analytical Research at the Fund for Legislative Initiatives. He has also served as the head of the Center for Humanitarian Research in Stavropol. Prior to his position within the Duma, Mr. Naumov was the Vice President of the Rolf Management Company.

The Honorary Vladimir Ilyich Tikhonov, Russian Duma Committee on International Affairs Member will be part of the delegation. Mr. Tikhonov, 53, is in his second term in the Duma, representing the 79th electoral district (Kineshma) in Ivanovo Oblast. During his first term, he was the Chair of the Committee on Economic Policy. He is a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) and is the Secretary of the KPRF Central Committee and First Secretary of the Ivanovo Oblast Committee of the KPRF. Mr. Tikhonov is a graduate of the Shuisky Industrial Technical School (SITS), the Ivanovsk Energy Institute and the Kostroma Technology Institute. He has worked as an electrician, technician, SITS instructor, and General Director of the Shuisky Cotton Production Plant (later the Shuisky Chintz Company). He studied Marxism-Leninism at Shuisky University and was once an instructor at the City Communist Party Committee. Mr. Tikhonov also has served as a member of the RSFSR Council of People's Deputies.

Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Tarasov, Advisor to the Duma Interparliamentary Office, will take part in the program. Also attending will be Rita Kit, a professional interpreter and Mariya Lvovna Lvova, an escort interpreter.
