Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Dramatic changes have occurred in Russia since August of 1998, which have affected the environment for American businesses operating in Russia. The Pennsylvania-Russia Business Council, with the support of the Mid-Atlantic regional Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations, has organized a series of eleven half-day seminars entitled, "The Changing Face of Russia."
Each of the seminars will cover the recent and current developments in Russia, as well as analyze the changes in the business environment. This program has been sponsored by Finnair, which has provided diverse service to Russia.
There will be several respected analysts, including Dr. Vladimir Kvint, Professor of Management Systems and International Business at Fordham University. Dr. Kvint will be discussing his latest book, The Global Emerging Market in Transition and will present his analysis of today's largest emerging market - Russia.
Dr. Barry Ickes, Associate Professor of Economics at Penn State University will address "Russia's Virtual Economy."
John Gallagher, Head of the Law Offices of John J. Gallagher, and Advisor to "Your Family's House," the U.S. Congress and the Russian Federation Parliament joint program for housing development in Russia, will share his experience during his three most recent visits to Russia in October and December of 1998, and in January of 1999.
Val Kogan, President of PRBC, will share insights of his recent five-week visit to Russia. Mr. Kogan will also describe the plans for the upcoming Russian Innovation Technologies Trade Show, and the proposed development of regional ties between the Western Regions of Russian Federation and the U.S. East Coast.
Other speakers including Mark Stanga, Vice President, Government Affair of York International and Ron Davis, Export Director of Bell Export Foods Group will share their company experiences from doing business in Russia.
The next such seminar in Pennsylvania, with the cooperation of the Penn State University Smeal College of Business Administration, is scheduled for June 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The seminar will be held in the Kern Graduate Commons building, 101 Kern Graduate Commons, Penn State - University Park, PA.
