AMBASSADORS BUSINESS FORUM
"RUSSIA AND THE NEWLY INDEPENDENT STATES FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM"

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - The Ambassadors Business Forum "Russia and the Newly Independent States for the new Millennium" will take place on October 18, 1999 in QVC Studio Park, West Chester, Pennsylvania. This event is coordinated by the Pennsylvania-Russia Business Council (PRBC), supported by the Office of Congressmen Joseph Pitts, the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry and the Chester County International Trade Council, sponsored by IBAH, Finnair and Law Offices of John J. Gallagher, and hosted by QVC.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, fifteen new countries were created. Currently, the twelve following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan are named the Newly Independent States. During the past eight years, the Newly Independent States have achieved many developments in transition to a market economy, but they still face many challenges. Presently, there are many opportunities for the U.S. businesses in that part of the world but there are also many obstacles.

This Forum's distinguished speakers including Ambassadors, Trade Representatives, and Consuls Commercial from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan will discuss the latest developments in their respective countries. The keynote address will be given by United States Congressman Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania, Congressional point person on communications with the Russian Government, Co-Chairman of the Russian Duma-U.S. Congress Study Group. Mid-Atlantic Region legislative and State officials and local leaders involved with Russia and the Newly Independent States will share their perspectives.

The program will be held from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, followed by a reception, co-organized by PRBC and Team Pennsylvania Ambassadors until 7:30pm. During the reception, event participants will have the opportunity to take a QVC Studio Tour. Fashion Theater "M-Studio by Martha" will present a new show "Big City Lights".

The Forum's admission is $35 for CCCBI, CCITC and PRBC members, $45 for non-members. Registration at the door will cost an additional $10 dollars. Admission includes the Newly Independent States materials, a networking reception, QVC Studio Tour, fashion theater show, and a prize drawing.
